Rates and samples
Character rates are computed per game from the selections organisers report, never per set, and never rescaled from set wins. No rate is published without its sample size. Low sample is a listed state, not a footnote.
Character coverage
Only a fraction of sets carry game-by-game picks. That share is an organiser habit, not a function of bracket size, so majors are not better covered. Pick coverage sits as a headline on character surfaces.
Circuit points
Placement × field size over the last 90 days, with decay. Same number the rankings board sorts by. A bracket needs 8 or more entrants to mint points, ranks, Top 8s, or titles. Win rate and set counts still include every set.
Distinct counts
Sets add across games. Tournaments and players do not: a three-game event and a two-game player each count once on home. Where a panel uses a distinct total, it says so in one line.
What Runback doesn't track
start.gg is a bracket service. These would need another source.Tier definitions
Inferred from bracket size. Never the organiser's claim.Ranked-player density can push a bracket up a band. start.gg's declared competition tier is a constant across every event measured, and its league field is always empty. The events index defaults to S+A+B.

Public start.gg brackets. Runback does not read a game's ranked ladder, Battle Hub, or any replay service.
Why does every rate show a sample size?
A rate without its n is a vibe. Fighting-game readers catch a contradiction instantly, so sample size travels with every rate.
Why per game, not per set?
Organisers report character selections on games, not on sets. Rescaling one into the other would invent coverage we do not have.
Why are so many character numbers missing?
